Welp, I got meself on the Independent Line at CSPAN's Washington Journal this morning at 4:44am PST.
That's Fo Fo de Fo
Call (202) 628-0205 more is merrier...
It's always on in the wee hours and this is the first time I ever got through. They get some wingnuts, so I hoped to join voices of reason.
The question on the table was whether or not the U.S. is still an "Indispensable Nation." I got to thinking about that as I listened to about a dozen callers on both sides of that question. I had something else to say, but figured I'd start there since it BEGGED a reassessment.
Mo be lo the fo...
So here's the deal on that:
Of Course the United States is indispensable, but ummm...
which country is dispensable? Name one, and defend that notion.
I question the usefulness of the question, other than to give Americans an opportunity to demonstrate how truly arrogant some of us are.
Anyhow that said, and hearing no response from the host, I used the rest of my time to slip this in:
Sam Alito seems poised to accept anything this administration wings across the transom.
Among the most disturbing of these wingers, in no particular order:
Torture: OK
Warrantless Domestic Spying: OK
Extraordinary Rendition: OK
Infinite Guantanamo: OK
Lying: OK
Rampant Corruption: OK
Reproductive Rights Restriction: OK
Unlimited Executive Powers: OK
Executive Treason: OK
Election Fraud: OK
These are the dispensable parts of what's American. There are more. I am counting on intense congressional hearings to rout out each and every one of these inanities from our good country.
The guest who came on right after my call seemed pretty sure that there will be no filibuster.
If ever there was a time, how could this time not be?
I surely hope that Senator Reid is bluffing.
